Striking box-end wrenches have a 6-pt. design that allows more contact with the fastener’s sides than the 12-pt. style and prevents rounding the fastener’s corners. A block shape on one end of the handle is struck with a hammer to loosen or tighten a fastener. The opposite end has an enclosed head end (box end) that fits around the entire head of the fastener for a more secure grip while turning compared to an open end. Wrenches have a straight handle and are SAE (inch) size.
